Since 1997, Barrel of Monkeys has performed original theater for all ages throughout Chicago. Their critically acclaimed show, “That’s Weird, Grandma,” is an ever-changing compilation of sketches and songs written by elementary school students and brought to life by professional adult actors and musicians. The show runs the gamut from clever and funny to touching and poignant, and includes live music, original song-and-dance numbers, wigs and props galore, and a rotating cast of talented actor-educators who celebrate the imaginations of children through this raucous performance.

Most performances take place at the Neo-Futurist Theater, 5153 N Ashland in the Andersonville neighborhood. Ticket prices range from $5-25, making “That’s Weird, Grandma” a fun and affordable cultural activity for the whole family.
