What I really want to tell you

After being exhibited for 3 months in Miami The55Project is pleased to announce that the group exhibition What I really want to tell you … will be on view from January 30 through July 31, 2020 at the Mana Contemporary Chicago.
What I really want to tell you … explores the cultural, social and political histories of Brazil. The participating artists question issues within these histories and externalize their examinations through artworks that impact, inspire and engage, becoming their own manifestos of exploration, interrogation, and change. For example, works by Rosana Paulino and Paulo Nazareth delve deep into the origins of racial issues within Brazil to expose the history of a past that is often obscured and neglected. At the same time, artist Randolpho Lamonier presents a prophecy in shape of a banner with a vision for a desired future, and artist Mano Penalva revisits the measurement of the Brazilian flag to create new ones constructed with everyday materials, optimistically reflecting the need of new forms ofrepresentation in a society that excludes many. By responding to history and our contemporary moment, the exhibition highlights ways in which art stimulates and informs new ideas in times of divergent realities.
What I really want to tell you … is curated by Jennifer Inacio and Flávia Macuco Pecego with the assistance of Anna Biondo.
