The Lira Singers at the Chicago History Museum’s new exhibit on the History of Poles in Chicago

LIRA SINGERS QUARTET PERFORMS AT OPENING OF CHICAGO HISTORY MUSEUM POLISH EXHIBIT

The Chicago History Museum is opening its first-ever exhibit on the history of Poles in Chicago – on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 10am to 2pm.
The museum is at 1601 North Clark in Chicago with its own parking lot just north of the building.

And the highly-praised Lira Singers Quartet will give a 45-minute performance in the Chicago Room at the Museum at 1pm on May 20th, which is FREE with admission to the Museum.

This exhibit is historic because it covers the more-than-150-year history of Polish immigration to Chicago and the lives of Polish-Americans in the Chicago area since then.

The Lira Singers Quartet will sing music in celebration of the exhibit, songs of Polish emigration as well as music associated with May 3rd/Polish Constitution Day, which is the major Polish-American civic holiday. The Quartet will appear in authentic folk outfits of the Krakow (Cracow) region of southern Poland, which is the ancestral home of many Chicago area Polish-Americans. Lucyna Migala, artistic director/general manager of the Lira Ensemble, will provide an English narration which will explain the context of all the music performed.

The Quartet is part of the Lira Ensemble, the nation’s only professional performing arts company specializing in Polish music, song and dance, and is artist-in-residence at Loyola University Chicago.

The Lira concert is FREE which admission to the Museum, which is:
$19 for adults, $17 for seniors and students, children under 12 – FREE.

For more information about the Lira performance, call 773-505-8731.
