    About the Speaker:

Otsuka Yasuyuki was born in 1959 in Setagaya-ku Tokyo. In 1985 he became a student of Someya Sensei in Katsuhika-ku, Tokyo. In 1991 Otsuka Yasuyuki was promoted to the rank of “Shihan” in the Meifu Shinkage Ryu school. In 1995 Otsuka Yasuyuki assumed the teaching role as Someya Sensei decided to retire. Sadly, Someya Sensei passed away just four short years later in 1999. A decade later, with the permission of the Someya family Otsuka Yasuyuki became the “Soke (representative) of Meifu Shinkage Ryu” In 2010 Soke resigned from his career in the printing industry and currently makes his living teaching Meifu Shinkage Ryu worldwide. At this time there are more than 15 countries and many cities with Meifu Shinkage Ryu Keikokai (schools) including Chicago.
