Project Bound Dance Presents
BUFFERING

CHICAGO – Project Bound Dance announces BUFFERING to be presented on February 16-18 at Color Club, located in Chicago’s Irving Park neighborhood.

The performance will feature an evening of of new and historic modern dance works including:

“Edgemode” [Excerpt], originally choreographed by Shirley Mordine for Mordine & Company, 1995

“12 Unfinished Thoughts” by Ashley Deran and Emily Loar

“Faded Billboards (Relatable)” by Emily Loar in collaboration with Ali Lorenz

“To: and From:” created using original source material from Shirley Mordine’s solo“ Letters to my Son” (1979) performed by guest artists Danielle Gilmore and Melissa Pillarella

And “Something Great” a developing work by Ashley Deran and Emily Loar

Buffering explores the crucial, frustrating, or overlooked moments between decisions, tasks, and transitional periods of historical or personal significance. Buffering offers a series of works that take a careful look at the general state of things, reflecting on where we’ve been, where we’re going, and how in the hell we’re going to get there.

The cast of BUFFERING will feature Project Bound Dance company ensemble artists Stacy DeMorrow, Juli Farley, Kathryn Hetrick, Kate Laughlin, Emily Loar, Ali Lorenz, Haley Marcin, and Sarah Morimoto as well as guest performances by former Mordine & Company Dance Theater members Danielle Gilmore and Melissa Pillarella.

Founded in Chicago, IL by Shirley Mordine in 1969, Mo&Co is known for its interdis-ciplinary collaborations in music, theater, visual design, video and puppetry artists. The Mo&Co archives have over 50 years of creative contributions and collaborations including choreography, music,  production design, and dancer alumnus performances. About Project Bound Dance

Under the direction of Ashley Deran and Emily Loar, Project Bound Dance is a Chicago-based modern dance group rooted in the practice of collaboration. Since its founding in 2013, Bound has created work that is both curious and accessible. Creating both live concert performance and dances for camera, Bound draws from both modern dance and somatic fundamentals. Incorporating vigor, athleticism, and intricate gesture exploration, Deran and Loar weave together the vision of two distinct artistic voices to create richly textured dance performance.

Danielle Gilmore and Melissa Pillarella are Chicago based dance artists, trained and mentored under the direction of Shirley Mordine since 2011. Gilmore is original from Yuma, AZ, where she received her BFA from University of Arizona. Pillarella, originally from Chicago, IL, received her BFA from the University of Illinois. Gilmore and Pillarella have performed choreography at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, Columbia College, Smart Museum, Harvest Chicago Contemporary Dance Festival, and Deaths Door Dance Festival. Together, they are working to preserve the performance and historic repertoire of Shirley Mordine and Mordine and Company Dance Theater. Gilmore and Pillarella continue to create both separately and collaboratively.
