Join us for a reading with Jane Hirshfield, whom the Washington Post describes as belonging “among the modern masters.” Her nine poetry collections include Ledger; The Beauty; Given Sugar, Given Salt, a finalist for the 2001 National Book Critics Circle Award; and After, winner of a T.S. Eliot Prize. Hirshfield’s honors include a Poetry Center Book Award and fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Academy of American Poets, among others. She has taught at Stanford University, UC Berkeley, Duke University, Bennington College, and elsewhere. Her work has been translated into more than a dozen languages and set to music by numerous composers, including John Adams and Philip Glass.
