Mudlark Theater presents The Decameron

Mudlark Theater presents The Decameron, 7 p.m. June 16-18 at Congregational Park, behind the First Congregational Church of Evanston, 1445 Hinman Ave., Evanston. In 14th-century Florence, ten young people escape the Black Death by fleeing to an abandoned villa in the countryside. To keep their minds off the trauma they left behind and keep their hands to themselves as adolescent hormones rage, the refugees take turns telling stories of life before the plague. Their tales bring to life a vibrant world of clever servants, cheating spouses, hypocritical clergy, and star-crossed lovers. But as the stories unfold, a question lingers: will any of it still exist when they get back? Co-written and co-directed by Andrew Biliter and Michael Miro.
