Mental Filmness Short Film Holiday Showcase
Save the date! For the first time ever, Mental Filmness will present a holiday showcase of local Chicago-made short films.
The short film Paper Planes tells the story of a woman with agoraphobia and the airbnb guest across the hall who strike up a correspondence that becomes something more for the holidays. It is co-directed by Chicago indie filmmakers Alyssa Thordarson and Michael Smith. Alyssa also wrote and starred in the film, and will appear as a guest to discuss it.
Also set during the holidays, Side B tells the story of a record-store owner finding catharsis from her past through the healing power of music.
Multi-talented artist Brandon Jones, who served as director, writer, editor, producer, and director of photography on Side B, will join us to speak about the film. Brandon works actively as an artist, filmmaker, and photographer based out of Chicago.
Join us 12/16 @ 2 p.m. at Edgewater Library for our first-ever holiday short film showcase! This program is co-presented by the Chicago Public Library Diversability Committee and Mental Filmness.
