Mental Filmness Hosts A Screening Of 5000 Blankets

Please join Mental Filmness, a Chicago-based film festival about mental health, for our final screening of the year! Producer Douglas Shaffer will join us in person to discuss the film 5000 Blankets.

When her husband has a mental breakdown and goes missing, a determined woman and her young son set out to find him on the streets, sparking a movement of compassion toward those in need. 5000 Blankets is based on an inspiring true story about the intersection between homelessness and mental health.

If you’d like to, you can bring a blanket to donate to Chi-Town Blankets.

Mental Filmness is partnering with the Chicago Public Library’s Diversability Committee to bring you this event at the Independence Branch library. The Diversability Committee hosts programs year-round to highlight the challenges and accomplishments of people who live with disabilities.
