  • Flo is an elderly white woman succumbing to dementia, the memories of her life tangled with TV ads and the “call now” demands of QVC. Louise is a young black woman who was recently laid off, is reinventing herself, and who meets Flo when she takes a job as a Meals-on-Wheels driver. Using vintage overhead projectors, multiple screens, puppets, actors, live feed cameras, and multi-channel sound design, Manual Cinema’s The End of TV combines for a fascinating, multimedia, theatrical meditation on late 20th century advertising, TV culture and the pre-internet American imagination, including a live music ensemble performing original 70’s R&B-inspired art pop songs.
