“We want to offer a unique way to enjoy a high-end food and drink experience,” said Brooke Webster, General Manager for City Winery at the Riverwalk. “What better way for City Winery to collaborate with one of Chicago's best restaurants than by offering an opportunity to travel along a beautiful stretch of the river that also happens to connect our two destinations.”

Kevin Hickey was born and raised in Chicago in the iconic south side neighborhood Bridgeport. His family has been a part of the Bridgeport business and social community for over five generations. Chef Hickey began his professional career in the restaurant business while a student at the historic De La Salle Institute. His 30+-year career that truly began to take shape when he began working for Four Seasons hotels and resorts internationally before returning to his native Chicago in 2004. He worked at The Ritz Carlton Hotel as Executive Chef, at the Four Seasons Chicago where he led his local Four Seasons team to two consecutive Michelin Stars and AAA Five Diamond status, and he eventually opened the much-lauded Allium.

Chef Hickey’s highly anticipated Bridgeport venture The Duck Inn opened in 2014. The Duck Inn, a neighborhood Tavern and Dining Room that is housed in a pre-prohibition era tavern that has continuously operated for almost a century, showcases Chef Hickey’s signature ingredient and seasonally driven modern American cuisine as well as an extensive beverage program filled with craft beers, contemporary cocktails, and creative wine service.

Brandon Phillips has spent the last half-decade perfecting his craft behind the bar. Upon completing a rigorous apprenticeship at one of Chicago’s most renowned cocktail bars, The Drawing Room, Phillips earned the title of Master Bartender catching the eye of industry professionals all over the country, including Chef Kevin Hickey. Serving as Head Barkeep, Phillips would, one year later, open Bottlefork with Hickey, a stylish New American concept in Chicago that was almost immediately heralded by Wine Spectator and GQ Magazine as having some of the most innovative cocktails in the city.

Inspired by the success of their first partnership, Phillips and Hickey opened The Duck Inn in 2014, which would later be named one of the “10 hottest Bars in Chicago” as well as given numerous “Best Restaurant” accolades from publications such as Eater Chicago, Esquire, and USA Today.

Phillips represented the United States in the 2015 Global Beefeater MIXLDN Competition where he triumphed against 30 finalists from around the world with his “Hackney Handshake” cocktail. Included in Zagat’s prestigious annual 30 Under 30 roundup, Phillips was also honored by the Chicago Tribune when he was named “Bartender of the Year” in 2016.

Opened in 2012, City Winery Chicago is a fully operational winery, restaurant with outdoor patio, concert hall and private event space located in the heart of the West Loop at 1200 W. Randolph, in the historic urban Fulton Market district. Once a refrigerated food distribution warehouse, the 1911 building has been transformed into a contemporary 33,000 square foot haven for those passionate about wine, music and culinary arts. The décor evokes the romance of being in wine country, from the exposed stainless steel fermenting tanks and French oak barrels, to the aroma of fermenting grapes. Chicago’s only fully operation winery has produced dozens of in-house wines sourced from vineyards in California, Oregon, Washington, Argentina and Chile, including a Wine Enthusiast 90-point 2012 Bien Nacido Vineyard Reserve pinot noir and has been recognized with a 2014, 2015 and 2016 Best of Award of Excellence “for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world” by Wine Spectator. The globally inspired, locally sourced, wine-focused food menu is conceived for pairing and sharing. The concert hall accommodates up to 300 guests, all seated at tables with complete beverage and dining service, ensuring a comfortable “listening room” experience enhanced by a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound system. Riedel is the official and exclusive provider of glassware, showing City Winery’s commitment to enjoying quality wine in a quality vessel. American Airlines is the Official Airline and Virgin Hotels Chicago is the Official Hotel of City Winery.

City Winery Chicago brings what they do best in the West Loop to their Riverwalk location. The menu features a diverse wine, beer, and cocktail list along with food created to pair with wine. In addition, wine made at City Winery's West Loop location is served through a unique tap system to showcase the company's commitment to sustainability. The décor evokes the romance of being in wine country in a beautiful urban setting, offering stunning views of downtown Chicago and the Chicago River.
