After a very successful US premiere as part of the 5th Destinos Chicago International Latino Theater Festival in 2022, Cintas de Seda returns for just 6 special performances during the 11th annual Chicago Theatre Week!

On the eve of the Day of the Dead, two unique and universal figures–The Painter and The Nun–come together in an impossible dialogue where ghosts, hallucinations, and images of the past are present from death in a poetic representation of life.

With sharp, scathing, lucid language, the piece explores the role of women in a stifling machista society through two icons of Mexican culture: Frida Kahlo and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.
