Chicago Architecture Center and Chicago’s First Lady Cruises Host Stop on ‘Amal Walks Across America’ Tour
On Sept. 29, the Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) and Chicago’s First Lady Cruises (CFL) will host a larger-than-life art piece that is touring the world to celebrate the stories of refugees, immigrants and asylum seekers. Little Amal, a 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian Refugee girl, has met over 1 million people in 13 countries and been watched by millions more online. This fall, she will journey 6,000 miles across the United States in the “Amal Walks Across America” tour—one of the largest free public exhibits ever created. During her stop in Chicago, Little Amal will learn about Chicago’s rich architecture aboard the CAC River Cruise, accompanied by 100+ guests from the refugee community and led by one of CAC’s expert docents.
