Irish/Scottish folk band Character Fleadh will preview its upcoming album _Logical Fleadh_ at Beverly Arts Center.

Recorded as a mash-up of Character Fleadh and rock band Tautologic, _Logical Fleadh_ adds rock “oomph,” contemporary flair, and a Chicago accent to traditional Celtic melodies.

_Logical Fleadh_ received funding from both the Illinois Arts Council and the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.

Active since 2008, Character Fleadh finished its annual St. Patrick’s Day run in March 2019. With their chops sharp after a round of gigs, they headed into Rax Trax Recording to record the basic tracks of the album in a two day session.

In 2020 and 2021, the pandemic left the band silent on St. Patrick’s Day, but bandleader/producer Ethan Sellers went to work finishing the album and lined up an array of special guests, including violist Chuck Bontrager, Grammy-winning cellist Nick Photinos, Seán O’Riada Gold medal winner Seán Gavin, and Solas co-founder and accordionist John Williams.

The upcoming album combines rousing jigs and reels, touching ballads, and originals by Sellers that combine an Irish lilt with rock grooves and witty lyrics.

Character Fleadh includes Ethan Sellers (acoustic guitar, piano, vocals), Emily Albright (violin, vocals), Dana Joras (flute, piccolo, vocals), Joe Kilroy (banjo), Nathan Britsch (bass) and Pat Buzby (drums, bodhran).
