Cartoneria: A Mexican Paper Mache Tradition arrives at NRPM

Cartoneria: A Mexican Paper Mache Tradition is a work in progress exhibit throughout the Mall, February 24 – May 7.

The original exhibit, Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dream World premiered last summer/fall at Cantigny Park, introducing these creations to the US – right here in Chicagoland. These incredible folk art pieces endured heavy weathering after 6 months outside. Three artists have returned and will be restoring their artwork onsite through April. Meet the creators, help us reapply paper mache, and see what goes into this art tradition from Mexico City.
