CAPE Inaugural Exhibition Grand Opening Celebration
Building on many years of exhibitions in short-term gallery spaces, Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education is excited to establish a new permanent 4,000 square foot gallery space to expand our mission to make students’ learning and creativity more visible in our community. This new and unique resource in the culturally vibrant and centrally located Bridgeport arts district will provide students with expanded opportunities to share their ideas via the visual and performing arts, reaching new audiences.
CAPE’s commitment to partnering with schools to increase students’ access to arts education will not change. With this new space, CAPE is expanding its commitment to students by providing a professional, publicly accessible home for sharing the work that originates in schools and communities. The space is a professional setting that encourages the exchange of ideas across the many diverse communities CAPE already serves.
Our first exhibition will take place March 1-31, 2023, and will feature the work of 14 schools in the CAPE network.Students, teachers, and artists will be sharing a diverse mix of projects representing CAPE’s approach to integrating the arts and academics.Projects will illustrate students’ ideas about self-identity, the environment, civil rights, architecture, and family history. The students will come from various schools, including schools serving special needs high school students.
On Saturday March 18, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., CAPE will host an event designed to immerse the public in collaborative artmaking. The event will feature visual art-making demonstrations, student performances, and opportunities for all visitors to create art.
