Michigan Avenue) on Wednesday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m, sponsored by James D. Kunzman, M.D. The performance, featuring conductor Dr. William LaRue Jones and renowned pianist Ksenia Nosikova, will also serve as a celebration and conclusion of Jones’ 22-year tenure at the University of Iowa.

Hailed as one of the finest university orchestras in the United States, the University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra soars under the direction of Dr. William LaRue Jones. The 120-minute concert will showcase two iconic compositions by American composers Aaron Copland and William Grant Still, with one intermission. Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” and Still’s “Symphony No. 1 (Afro-American)” are among the composers’ most uniquely creative and inspired works. The performance concludes with the grandiose “Piano Concerto No. 1” by Sergei Rachmaninoff, performed by Moscow Conservatory graduate and Steinway Artist, Nosikova.
