Barrington Art Festival: Barrington, Illinois

Downtown Barrington sets the stage for the 14th annual Barrington Art Festival, which takes place on the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend (May 27 and 28). This beloved art fest, in partnership with the Village of Barrington and the Barrington Cultural Commission, fills the streets with 120 artists from near and far showing and selling art in all media including paintings, sculpture, jewelry, wearables, photography, ceramics and more! Live music, activities for kids, painting classes, selfie stations, and the brand new “Kids Art Stop” where artists invite children to stop at their booth to learn more about the art-making process, add to the family-friendly vibe of this event. Festival food and drinks on site, along with several restaurants, cafes and ice creameries that line the festival route, help ensure that no one goes hungry! Attendees are invited to bring their gently used wall art to the festival where it will be donated to the Chicago Furniture Bank, a nonprofit that distributes furnishings and art to those leaving shelters and moving into permanent housing. Several artists from this show are participating in Amdur Productions’ Green Ribbon Project. Artists place a green ribbon on a piece of art in their booth, and if the piece is sold, 10% of the sale will be donated to Amdur’s charitable partner, which this year is the Chicago Furniture Bank. This event is free, with plenty of free parking. It is also wheel friendly with easy access for wheelchairs and strollers. For those taking public transportation, the festival is conveniently located one block west of the Barrington METRA station. For more information, contact Amdur Productions at 847-926-4300.
