Anixter Center’s 7th Annual Benefit
  • Anixter Center, a leading nonprofit in the Chicagoland area serving people with disabilities, will roll out the red carpet as it honors Alexander Pissios at its 7th annual Spring Gala on Thursday, May 3. Themed “Sharing Strengths, Building Partnerships,” the evening will be a cinema extravaganza showcasing the work of some of Chicago’s most innovative young filmmakers. The Gala will raise funds to help children, teens, and adults with disabilities through programs that include employment training, job placement, residential services and health care.

Honoree Pissios, President & CEO of Cinespace Chicago Film Studios, has inspired and supported countless professionals in the film industry, including through the development of Stage 18, a nonprofit incubator for those seeking a career in film and media. Members of Stage 18 will be on hand at the Gala to showcase their work and to mingle with guests. The 70-acre Cinespace lot is the largest movie studio complex outside of Hollywood. NBC’s Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med, FOX’s Empire, and Showtime’s Shameless are all filmed at Cinespace. Scenes from major blockbuster movies including Divergent (2014) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) were also filmed there.

Chair of this year’s event is Phillip Koch, a Chicago-based Executive Producer. Koch has assembled a group of honorary chairmen for the Anixter Gala including iconic Chicago Cub Kerry Wood, Tribune Broadcast Media Executive Larry Wert, and Steve Koch, former Deputy Mayor of Chicago, who will all be on hand to walk down the red carpet with guests. Long-time Anixter Center supporter, Rob Johnson, weekday anchor of the CBS 2 Chicago evening newscasts, will be the master of ceremonies.
