  • The Chicago Architecture Biennial is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to creating an international forum on architecture and urbanism through the production of exhibitions and public programs. Through the vision of Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, the Biennial has become the largest architecture and design exhibition in North America and highlights the transformative global impact of creativity and innovations across creative fields that affect the way we live, work and organize society around the world. Approaching its third edition, the 2019 Biennial’s theme of “… and other such stories” builds upon a research-driven approach to historical and contemporary spatial conditions and uses Chicago as a focal point to trace dialogues between various practices and the questions they raise across global communities, cities, territories and ecologies. Lead by curatorial team Artistic Director Yesomi Umolu and Curators Sepake Angiama and Paulo Tavares, the 2019 edition welcomes an impressive list of over 80 contributors from 20+ countries - spanning the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia -, whose values and bodies of work perfectly emulate this year’s curatorial focus.
