Explore the art galleries and shops of the historic Bronzeville neighborhood during the last Bronzeville Trolley Tour of the summer, on Friday, September 16. From 6pm-9pm, trolleys will roll down Bronzeville arts district streets stopping at notable art galleries, shops and restaurants. FREE live music, food and drink add to the festivities for this can't miss event.

Black Folk Art

From now through September, art fans can explore several exhibits that reflect the historic journey of African Americans  from the South to the North during the early 20th century. The year 2016 marks the Centennial Celebration of the Great Migration and Chicago is honoring the occasion with three striking art exhibitions at the South Side Community Art Center, Gallery Guichard and Intuit.

The Centennial Celebration of the Great Migration continues with an exploration of the musical history that developed as a result of the historic migration of African Americans from the South to northern cities, especially Chicago. The cultural impact of the blues and jazz genres, which expanded on major levels due to The Great Migration, will be celebrated with two events on Saturday, July 23.
