Unique perspectives on the city from the people who live here.

As August cruises toward an end, we’re taking advantage of some of the last summertime street festivals and outdoor events in Chicago. If you don’t catch us running around these events in Chicago this weekend, you might find us eating alfresco on one of these off-the-path patios or indulging in these desserts unique to the city. What to Expect at the Randolph Street Market

Tuesday, June 20, 2017 4:00 PM by Maddy Osman

Randolph Street Market (1340 W. Washington Boulevard) is Chicago’s destination for vintage and antique shopping. The outdoor and indoor festival is located in the Fulton Market area. Randolph Street Market is modeled after European-style shopping markets. In addition to great shopping, you’ll find local food vendors, live music and family-friendly activities. There’s good reason why Randolph Street Market was voted one of the top 10 vintage markets in the U.S. by USA Today.

The Whistler

Spring is here in Chicago and things are warming up in the Windy City. Warmer temperatures means that there's even more to do in the city, as markets open their doors and song and dance fill the air (no, really!). Most of the options in our list are free things to do in Chicago this month, with a few that will run you less than $10.

Here are 12 free things to do in April that shouldn't be missed.

Wendella Sightseeing Boats

Are you ready to take advantage of your weekend in Chicago? Here's our list of weekend events and shows to top your itinerary. Check out the new exhibit Extreme Ice at the Museum of Science and Industry (there's many more blockbuster exhibits here now and coming soon to Chicago). The Chicago Flower and Garden Show finishes out its second weekend (and is one of four flower shows kicking off spring). Another sure sign of the season? River boat tours are back for sightseeing cruises! It's time to make weekend plans.

Museum of Science and Industry Chicago

Chilly temps are starting to hit the city, but the best events in Chicago are just warming up. Take on the cold with our many ice skating rinks that are sure to show you a great time. We've also got many holiday shopping markets for you to find the best gifts your loved ones could ask for and much more. It's time to make some weekend plans!

Zoo Lights

Hope you're having a great Thanksgiving! Once you're done eating, here are some top events you'll want to check out this weekend. We're right around the corner from Christmas, and Chicago is the perfect place to get yourself in the spirit, from shopping vintage in Fulton Market to singing along to your favorite carols downtown!

Christkindlmarket Chicago

It's that time again. Holiday shopping in Chicago may not officially start until the Friday after Thanksgiving (here's a handy Mag Mile shopping map), but smart shoppers know that deals and steals happen early. Chicago hosts two festive markets that usher in the holiday season and supply both holiday fun and distinctive shopping treasures. Mark your calendars and make your Christmas in Chicago plans.

Chicago Dancing Festival

Welcome to the weekend, Chicago! Seems like this summer is flying by, but the action keeps coming. We've got comedy cruises, bus tours of Chicago's top attractions plus a beer gathering at a zoo. A free dancing extravaganza turns 10 and Randolph Street goes vintage. Not to mention, a NEW rooftop opening. It's time to make weekend plans!

Randolph Street Market

This past weekend, my daughter and I spent some time at the Randolph Street Market Festival. We had such fun exploring three floors worth of art, fashion, vintage treasures, decorators finds and more. Even the venue itself - the beaux arts Plumbers Hall at 1340 W. Washington - was interesting (check out the mural of Buckingham Fountain on the staircase and the ornate detailing and woodwork and don't forget to stroll the balcony overlooking the auditorium - there are treasures to be found up there, too).
