The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival officially kicks off the holiday season in Chicago. Each year, more than 1 million people bundle up and enjoy a night of family-friendly entertainment. With so many free things to do this month, there's a lot to be grateful for this November! As the holiday season officially begins, there's a long list of things that will become full: tummies, parks, and ice skating rinks are among them, but nothing is more full than Chicago's social calendar! 

Chicago’s new Michigan Avenue Apple Store will open along the Chicago River on Oct. 20. The 20,000 square-foot glass building is located at 401 N. Michigan Avenue, and will replace the current downtown Chicago location at 679 N. Michigan Avenue.

A metallic roof which resembles Apple’s iconic Macbook computer tops the new flagship store. A grand staircase leads down to the riverfront and an outdoor gathering space.

The design competition for the Chicago Tribune Tower was one of the most celebrated international architectural competitions of the 20th century. On June 10, 1922, the Chicago Tribune announced that they entries would be welcome from anywhere in the world. The prize? $50,000. Over the coming months, they received over 260 entries. In the end, the winning entry was a formidable design proffered by John Mead Howells and Raymond Hood.

Summer is flying by, Chicago! July is now over halfway done and if you haven’t had the chance to experience a craft beer event, this weekend is a perfect opportunity. Friday Night Flights continues downtown and Chicago Craft Beer Festival is joining with a music and garden event in Lincoln Park. Beer is not the only thing being highlighted this weekend. A Michigan Avenue art fest and a River North tasting event will be open to visitors of all ages.
