Washington Park explodes with music and creative energy during the 43rd annual DuSable Museum Arts & Crafts Festival. Music, dance, food and hand-crafted art and jewelry are the highlights for this free and family-focused event which kicks off this Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10pm. On Sunday, from noon to 6pm, Chicago's creative community comes together for On The Beach: Remastered Honoring Phil Cohran. at the 63rd St. Beach pavilion to celebrate what would have been the 90th birthday of musical icon Kelan Phillip Cohran.

Summer in Chicago means music flows everywhere, inside clubs and concert venues and through the streets and neighborhoods. Check out these great upcoming shows for your summer music fix, including a FREE festival that celebrates the season by presenting concerts all across the city for one music-filled day.

Meet Cube Solver, Daisy and Omron: Cube Solver can master a Rubik’s Cube in a flash, Daisy has six snake-like legs, making it easy for her to navigate even the roughest terrain and Omron is an agile shipping factory worker. This robotic trio, along with 40 of their pals, will be moving into Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry this May, with a mission to introduce humans to the future as part of the Robot Revolution exhibit.

The Oriental Institute is part of the University of Chicago's research center for ancient Near Eastern Studies. The museum has world-renowned collection of art and archaeology from the civilizations of ancient Egypt, Nubia, Persia, Mesopotamia, Syria and more. Admission is FREE (with a suggested donation), and exploring the exhibit galleries is a great weekend activity for history enthusiasts, or junior archaeologists with their entire family, to enjoy.

Chicago Restaurant Week is the perfect excuse to head out to one of Chicago's vibrant, foodie neighborhoods. In locales from Albany Park to West Town, over 350 Chicago restaurants are participating in Restaurant Week from January 27 to February 9, 2017 — making this the perfect opportunity to taste test through neighborhoods you haven't yet had a chance to explore.

Oriental Institute

Located on the picture-perfect University of Chicago campus in the Hyde Park neighborhood, the Oriental Institute is a wonderful, intimate museum, and makes for the perfect spot to introduce your kids to the joys of archeology. The intriguing collection includes a colossal 40-ton human-headed winged bull, a monumental statue of King Tutankhamun and a few fascinating mummies.
