Beacon Tavern Brunch

Chicago tourists and locals alike never stop brunching at classic spots such as Bongo Room, but it’s important to expand your palate every once in awhile. Chicago’s brunch scene is ever-changing and it’s hard to keep up! This roundup of the best new brunch spots in downtown Chicago includes a number of spots you’ll be dying to try this month. Challenge accepted!

The Florentine

As the weather grows colder—and quickly!—rich, hearty flavors beckon us inside from the chill. The bright colors of autumn's harvest—think roasted delicata squash, pink-red pomegranates, pumpkin seeds, swiss chard and more—warm and delight us. This time of year, many of Chicago’s top restaurants transition to new fall menus, which means you'll reap the bounty of eating seasonally, plus you may get the opportunity to find new favorite dishes at old favorite spots!

Fig & Olive Chicago Spring Menu

As you stroll down the luxe provinces of shop-filled Oak Street in the Gold Coast neighborhood, you might wonder: How long would it take me to get to the French Riviera? Indeed, it would require some planning, but never mind. You’re right in front of chic Chicago restaurant Fig & Olive, so walk in, take the elevator to the second floor and find your own retreat amidst their new spring time offerings.

Talbott Hotel Chicago

I've spent many evenings in the Gold Coast out and about and more than once I've wondered "Wouldn't be easier just to find a hospitable hostelry and stay over?" When one has the time, whether traveling from Dubai or Dubuque, why not just rest a while? I can heartily recommend such an overnight excursion at the celebrated Talbott Hotel on Delaware Place.

Thompson Chicago

For an evening out and about in the Gold Coast, you would do well to make your home base at the Thompson Chicago. It’s a fine place to escape for an anniversary or any other special occasion that you see fit. After all, it’s right next to dozens of night spots, the charming brownstones along Cedar Street, and other byways to stroll around as the sun sets or rises, depending on your own inclinations.

Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Historic District, located on Chicago's Near North Side, is one of the prettiest (and most pedigreed) neighborhoods in the city. It earned its glitzy reputation in 1882, when millionaire Potter Palmer built a forty-two room castle overlooking Lake Michigan. Other famous and wealthy Chicagoans followed and, to this day, the area is one of the exclusive in the city. Here are five kid-friendly stops in this elegant city neighborhood so you and your family can celebrate the good life.
