Fine wines and kids usually don't go hand in hand, but the City Winery Chicago (1200 W. Randolph St.), a 30,000-sq.-ft., fully-functioning winery, concert hall and Mediterranean eatery is inviting families to celebrate spring with a variety of kid-friendly programming.

Ah, 1977. Back when gas was 63 cents a gallon and the cost of a new home was essentially what a year and a half of college tuition is now: $62,500. It's also the year John Travolta showed us what it takes to be king of the disco floor in the record-breaking film, "Saturday Night Fever."

Leisure suits and affordable gas prices may have gone the way of dodo birds and handwritten letters, but one thing still endures: Goodman Theatre's beloved production of A Christmas Carol, which begins its amazing 35th anniversary production starting November 17 through December 29.

At a recent blogger meet-up, I learned two things. One: If I hope to start making any real money blogging, I need to start a fashion blog. Pronto. Two: I guess I should probably gain a sense of fashion at some point.

Baby steps.

I also learned that people whom I'd consider uniquely tuned into the city -- local cultural bloggers -- have shockingly limited sense of the breadth and depth of theatre this city offers.
