Chi-town may be the world capital for deep dish pizza but dumplings from around the world might just be our next culinary trademark. Chicago supplies a mind-blowing selection of  dumpling versions and variations, including beet-juice infused varenyky from the Ukraine and whitefish stuffed gyoza from Japan. Inherit Chicago's World Dumpling Fest (coming up October 7) offers up a stellar line up of choices but for foodies who prefer to do their tastings on their own, check out these dumplings and restaurants.

Located in a chic new building where State and Rush converge in the city’s Gold Coast neighborhood, Maple & Ash continues to receive attention as one of the city’s compelling new steakhouses, with an outside seating area that draws looks from passers-by and a menu curated by Chef Danny Grant that has received thoughtful accolades from all corners.

In Chicago, brunch is a sport that ranks right up there with the Bulls, Bears and Sox teams. Discovering the perfect brunch spot is a serious thing, and the city's restaurants scramble constantly to meet all the requirements for menus, drinks and ambiance. But beyond the perfect mimosa and ultimate avocado toast (more on those brunch trends here), some diners want dishes that will satisfy their healthy appetites while also displaying culinary creativity. So for foodies searching for a well-crafted and belly-busting brunch, check out these picks for summer mornings.

Summer in Chicago calls for patio dining . . . often, and in every corner of the city. But not every patio is kid-friendly, making for frustrated parents, bored kids and kid-less patrons who just want to sip their mojitos in peace. Here are five patios where kids are welcome to join in on the joy of dining in the great (urban!) outdoors.
