It's no secret that Chicagoans love to eat... and eat well. Named the best restaurant city in America by Condé Nast Traveler, our windy city is a mecca for gourmets, gourmands and everyone who just loves to take a bite into the extraordinary. One of the city's premier foodie events, Chicago Gourmet (September 19–24), is celebrating its 10th birthday in 2017, and several new anniversary events promise to bring star chefs and foodies together in Millennium Park and beyond for a bash like no other.

Start preparing now: Bon Appétit presents Chicago Gourmet is back for its ninth year! The highly anticipated culinary festival will take place September 23-25, 2016 in Millennium Park. The theme this year — Food is Art! — appropriately ties into Shakespeare 400 Chicago, a yearlong celebration that marks 400 years since Shakespeare's death by honoring his timeless works.

Bon Appétit presents Chicago Gourmet is back September 23-25 for its 9th year. This year's  theme is ‘Food is Art!' and will be hosted by celebrity chef and restaurateur Rick Bayless. The main event takes place over two days (hurry, Sunday tickets are still available!), but here are six special ticketed events and cook-offs you won't want to miss, including the debut of a new celebrity taco bout.

No one needs reassurance or additional encomia to know that Chicago is everyone's kind of food town. From elaborate crudite to charming charcuterie, Chicago has you covered. 

Case in point,  Bon Appétit presents Chicago Gourmet will be returning this year to Millennium Park from September 25-27. Presented by Bon Appetit, this elaborate celebration brings together 150 restaurants and chefs for celebrity chef demos, wine and spirit tastings, and a number of new events.

We are fortunate to have Bon Appétit presents Chicago Gourmet back again at Millennium Park for the seventh year and this fine fete stretches gloriously from September 27-28.


Paella, the classic Valencian rice dish, is undoubtedly beloved by foodies around the world. On June 23, Chicago celebrates this delicious plate by bringing together some of the city's best chefs for a good, old-fashioned cook-off! Months before September's highly anticipated Hamburger Hop cooking competition, Bon Appétit presents Chicago Gourmet has local chefs and culinary crusaders flexing their competitive muscle with the First Annual Paella Cook-off.

Presented by Bon Appétit, Chicago Gourmet is one of the greatest days of the year on the Chicago foodie calendar. It is a celebration of food and wine showcasing more than 150 of Chicago's finest restaurants and chefs, as well as hundreds of renowned vintners, spirit makers, and premium breweries not to be missed. Read on for a little somethin' somethin' for you to wet your appetite enough to get you through until it hits Millennium Park September 26-28.

The rise in female-dominated restaurants is something to be celebrated and fostered, which is precisely what is happening at the Five Chefs for Women event at Vermilion on September 25.

Chicago Gourmet 2013 (September 27-29, 2013), now in its sixth year, is one of the city's most anticipated culinary events. More than 150 of Chicago's best restaurants and chefs (as well as mixologists, wine makers and craft brewers) will pack Millennium Park to offer a sophisticated taste Chicago. Guests can expect a packed schedule of cooking demonstrations, gourmet tastings and seminars, but this year's event also promises an incredible Grand Cru.
