Since the Rolling Stones multimedia experience, Exhibitionism, opened at Navy Pier on April 15, fans have been thrilled to view a dynamic showcase of the greatest rock band in history. The display of over 500 personal effects from the band's lengthy career, including costumes, diaries and song lyrics, documents their journey from an amateur British band to the world's most influential rock group. It also reveals the Stones significant connection to the blues and Chicago.

If you think that blues musicians are all ranked in the senior citizen category, head to the Chicago Blues Productions show, Young Men of Chicago Blues to discover the reality of this thriving scene. The showcase features a dynamic group of millennial performers that have absorbed Chicago blues and play their own contemporary versions.  A second installment in a series that celebrated blues women last year, Saturday's show August 13 at Noble's Square's Vittum Theater presents the city's most promising young blues men.

Jamiah Rogers at Buddy Guy's Legends

It's been a long time coming but after years of playing talent competitions, all ages shows and special performances, Chicago blues young gun Jamiah Rogers will headline at the famed downtown club Buddy Guy's Legends on May 31. At 21 years old, the musician has sharpened his guitar- and song-writing skills to rival much more seasoned artists. Performing since he was three years old, Rogers injects a freshness to the Chicago blues sound that engages everyone who hears him play.

Billy Branch

Chicago blues may be defined by the electric guitar, but the invigorating roar of the harmonica is arguably the genre's second most essential instrument. Blues fans and newbies alike are always enthralled by the jaw-dropping skill of Chicago blues harp icon Billy Branch. A 3-time Grammy-nominated blues innovator who's been a mainstay on the Chicago blues scene since his arrival in the early '70s, a Billy Branch show is filled with lots of energy, audience interaction and dazzling skill.

Buddy Guy

January is a special time in Chicago. Not just because the city shimmers with ice and snow and the legendary Hawk blasts through every street. It's because January is the month that hometown fans (and visitors!) can see globe-trotting blue legend Buddy Guy perform at his equally famous blues bar, Legends.
