Summer is flying by, Chicago! July is now over halfway done and if you haven’t had the chance to experience a craft beer event, this weekend is a perfect opportunity. Friday Night Flights continues downtown and Chicago Craft Beer Festival is joining with a music and garden event in Lincoln Park. Beer is not the only thing being highlighted this weekend. A Michigan Avenue art fest and a River North tasting event will be open to visitors of all ages. Celeb tv personality and chef Andrew Zimmern knows where to go for a good time: he made two trips to Chicago for his popular Bizarre Foods show, and this year he came back to Chicago once again to film an episode of his newest Travel Channel series Driven By Food. As the city's largest music festival and the largest blues festival in the world, the FREE Chicago Blues Festival supplies a mind-boggling array of the genre in all of its forms. From June 10-12, the city, dubbed "The Blues Capital of the World", will celebrate its significant heritage, attracting an expected 500,000 blues fans to Grant Park over the course of 3 days. With 4 stages, plus a dedicated "street stage", its easy to get overwhelmed with all of the choices. Here's a breakdown of highlights not to miss:

Blues Festival 2013

With the arrival of summer quickly approaching, make sure to jump right into the festival season with the 31st Annual Chicago Blues Festival! Blues icons Bettye LaVette, Aaron Neville and Dr. John will all headline Chicago Blues Fest next weekend, June 13-15 in Grant Park. Celebrating "Blues by the Lake," the festival is free admission and open daily from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Lonnie BrooksChicago and the blues are an inseparable pair, and this month we're celebrate lauded bluesman Lonnie Brooks' 80th birthday with a bash worthy of a legend. Chicago's vibrant blues community comes together to honor Brooks' profound contributions to the city's rich tradition on Saturday, December 21 at The House of Blues. Serving as Master of Ceremonies is an original Blues Brothers, Dan Aykroyd, making Saturday's bash another in a long stream of collaborations between Aykroyd and Brooks.

Blues music in Chicago is legendary. Born on the city's south side, the genre now thrives in many of the city's most popular neighborhoods and culminates each summer with the Chicago Blues Festival -- the largest free blues music festival in the world. Attracting 500,000 fans every summer, this year the festival takes place June 6 through 9 in Grant Park. If you can't make the festival though, there are still plenty of spots to get your rock on all year long.
