Now more than ever, female chefs are deservedly in the spotlight across the country, and this year's 21st Annual Women Chefs and Restaurateurs Conference serves to celebrate that. Scheduled to take place for the first time ever in Chicago at the InterContinental Chicago hotel starting today, March 9, through March 11, the festivities serve to honor revered female game-changers as well as pave the way for young up-and-comers in the food industry.
The theme of this year's conference is, "The Art of Keeping it Green - Environmentally and Financially." Through an array of cooking demos, seminars, tastings, and more, all under the eco-friendly "green" umbrella, the Women Chefs and Restaurateurs Conference promises to be an enlightening endeavor for all. While honoring venerable women in food, the conference delves into green topics curated by the likes of Elizabeth Falkner, Gale Gand, Mindy Segal, and Ina Pinkney. There will be book signings, culinary competitions, a silent auction, an awards dinner, and more. Over the course of the conference, there will also be culinary tours taking place throughout the city along with a special dine-around promotion, enabling attendees to dine at certain restaurants in Chicago helmed by cutting-edge females, such as Girl & the Goat and Boarding House.
