Where to Watch: Northwestern

The 2013 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament is coming to Chicago March 14-17 (tomorrow!). To celebrate, Chicago Like a Local has been highlighting the best area places to watch each Big Ten team. As we get closer to the conference tournament, the action continues to heat up and for fans of the Wildcats, there are some great places in Chicago to watch the team in action. Here are a few recommendations for recreating Evanston charm in a big city just south.

Goose Island Brew Pub (1800 N. Clybourn Ave.)

Northwestern fans are savvy bunch, so chances are they're not fooled by imitators. Goose Island is the godfather of Chicago's celebrated beer scene, a true city original. So grab a Vintage Reserve and hope that Drew Crawford can rain enough three-pointers to keep NU alive in March.

Gamekeeper's (345 W. Armitage Ave.)

Gamekeeper's is the adopted alumni bar for, like, a dozen colleges, including the storied university in Evanston. With more TV screens than NU has undergrads, this place has a steadfast commitment to March Madness.

Timothy O'Toole's Pub (622 N. Fairbanks Ct.)

This is a raucous environment to watch Sunday Bears games and the energy will be just as intense during the Big Ten Tournament. As our official watch location for Northwestern basketball, you can expect a powerful presence of the purple persuasion at this place when the Wildcats tip off.
