CHICAGO FRINGE FESTIVAL (THRU 9/13)
Started by a group of Chicago-based artists and producers, the sixth annual Chicago Fringe Festival wows audience members with its expansive lineup of performance groups from across the world. Including comedies, dramas, dance pieces, performance art and more, this festival will tickle your entertainment fancy.
CHICAGO JAZZ FESTIVAL (9/3-6)
What more can be said about the Chicago Jazz Festival, one of this city's preeminent outdoor music celebrations. A FREE favorite tradition, the Jazz Festival will see musicians such as Muhal Richard Abrams, José James, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Butler, Bernstein & The Hot 9 take the stage for three days of indelible jazz music perfect for any age.
NORTH COAST MUSIC FESTIVAL (9/4-6)
Dubbed "summer's last stand," North Coast Music Festival in Union Park is a big ol' electronic, hip hop, jam band, indie rock party - headliners include Widespread Panic, D'Angelo and The Vanguard, and The Chemical Brothers. The party doesn't stop there, though, as North Coast is putting on 16 after parties, featuring big names like Steve Aoki and Chromeo.
Score big deals this weekend at The Magnificent Mile Shopping Festival, the nation's first of its kind. There's no better place in Chicago to shop than the Mag Mile, taken over this weekend by fashion shows, culinary demos, concerts and more! The weekend ends with The Magnificent Mile Chicago Women's Half Marathon & 5K, the only road race that includes the Michigan Ave. stretch in its route.
