If you're interested in food truck bonanzas, candy apples for fall, or college football in Soldier Field, Chicago is the place to be this weekend. Kendall College is hosting the Chicago Food Truck Social, more than 100 galleries are on display at EXPO Chicago and the James Beard Foundation is showcasing some of the city's celebrity chefs. Get loose, it's time to make weekend plans.

Chicago Food Truck Social (9/21)

Kendall College - one of the city's premier hospitality schools - is hosting an array of food trucks, restaurants, and live performers at its Chicago Food Truck Social. With more than a dozen restaurants on wheels and offerings from Publican Quality Meats, Endgrain and more, this is a must-visit festival for anyone not on a juice cleanse. Saturday's event runs 11am-10pm and admission is $5.

Chicago Football Classic (9/21)

Soldier Field

Soldier Field hosted the University of Illinois last Saturday and the Bears on Sunday. This weekend, the city's football stadium stays busy with the Chicago Football Classic, a matchup between Morehouse College (Georgia) and Central State University (Ohio). For 15 years, the Chicago Football Classic's been an inspiration and advocate for African American high school and college students by providing scholarships to historically black colleges and universities. Tickets for Satruday's game are as low as $15.

EXPO Chicago (Through 9/22)

More than 100 of the world's top contemporary art galleries will be represented at EXPO Chicago, a comprehensive showcase of works at Navy Pier's Festival Hall. EXPO CHICAGO boasts exhibitors from 16 countries, but locals will represent some of the most popular spaces. Richard Gray Gallery (875 N. Michigan Ave.) and Kavi Gupta Chicago (835 W. James Beard Foundation's Taste America (9/20-9/21)

The James Beard Foundation's Taste America: "Local Flavor from Coast to Coast," is a traveling food festival that camps in Chicago this weekend. This epicurean celebration is one of the fall's most anticipated culinary events, and features a handful of local celebrity chefs and Chicago-based James Beard Award nominees. Apple Fest (9/21)

With fall around the corner, Chicago's street festivals are making the transition from hamburgers with grilled onions to apples and pumpkin pie. Lincoln Square hosts Chicago's unofficial ode to the leave's changing with dozens of vendors, candy apples, and must-have scarfs for layering season.
