World Music Festival

We've lost summer in name only - the weather is still gorgeous and there's plenty to do in Chicago this weekend! From a historical tour of one of the city's most eclectic neighborhoods, to some outstanding music festivals, and a Mexican food & culture extravaganza hosted by some celebrity chefs, there's a good amount with which to fill your schedule. RIOT FEST (9/12-14)

Riot Fest

2014 marks this colorful music festival's 10th anniversary, and they're certain it'll be their best yet. Riot Fest expanded to its current space in Humboldt Park in 2012, adding carnival rides, Lucha Libre and more wild diversions for fans to entertain themselves between acts. But don't spend too much time there, because you'll miss headliners like The Cure, Jane's Addiction, The National, Weezer, The Flaming Lips, Slayer, and Wu-Tang Clan. World Music Festival

This gigantic, 10-day celebration featuring dozens of concerts around Chicago kicks off today and hits its stride right away. Hear traditional and contemporary music from acclaimed musicians hailing from across the globe, performing in the city's best venues at no cost to you. That's right, none cost. It's all free! MOD MEX & MOD MIX (9/13-14)

Mod Mex & Mod Mix 2014

If you love Mexican food and culture, which I know is a lot of you, then you'd better prepare yourselffor Mod Mex & Mod Mix. Celebrity Chef Rick Bayless has assembled a group of his closest chef and mixology comrades to host cooking demonstrations, tastings, cocktail pairings, some friendly competition, and simply unforgettable meals. The "Mod Squad" might just convince you to up and move to Mexico once you get a taste.



AIDS Run & Walk Chicago

Hit the streets for a good cause this weekend and join in on the AIDS Run & Walk Chicago, returning for its 13th year. You'll raise money for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and in doing so, help to improve the lives of people affected by the epidemic. The Run & Walk also features a "Health & Fitness Village" with pre- and post-event entertainment.
