From cocoa to bright lights, Chicago is on sensory overload right now. Between The BMO Harris Bank Magnificent Mile Lights Festival and Chicago Fine Chocolate Show, my ears and tastebuds have been turned up to 11. If you're looking to usher in the homestretch of 2012 in the greatest and most delicious way imaginable, hang out with us this weekend.
Navy Pier is hosting hundreds of the world's greatest purveyors of high-end chocolate this weekend. The schedule is jam packed with demonstrations and must-taste events. I'll be making the rounds with a hand out for free samples. My diet consists of Cocoa Pebbles, Nesquick and Reece's Peanut Butter Cups on the daily, so this should be an exciting occasion.
If I could listen to Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" year-round, I would. That song is just that good and I look for any excuse to get into the holiday spirit. The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival officially ushers in the holiday season with an intensely popular parade. After this event, the season is for real. You are now free to spend your Saturday's in pajamas and watching Love Actually on repeat without judgment. Finally.
The AllState Arena and WGCI are hosting some of the biggest names in hip-hop including Rick Ross, Wale and Kelly Rowland. If there's a void in your life that only guttural adlibs and references to Maybach's can fill, look no further.
Thankfully, Lewis Black's Running on Empty Tour had enough fuel in the tank to make a stop at The Chicago Theatre. If you're into angry rants about society's undoing, this author and The Daily Show regular will make you think (but mostly laugh).
Navy Pier's hosting the largest toy fair in the country and you're invited. Upcoming inventors and established names will have their latest gadgets and games available for testing. Don't miss the Star Wars character breakfast, Yo-Yo contest, or Top Trumps Moshi Monsters tournament.
