Chicago Memorial Day Parade (5/24)

Come Saturday morning, Chicagoans will be gathering by the thousands to celebrate and honor U.S. veterans and active duty military at Chicago's Memorial Day Parade. The parade will travel along state street from Lake to Van Buren, beginning with a Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Eternal Flame on Daley Plaza. Bring the whole family downtown Saturday for this beautiful way of beginning the holiday weekend. 

A Celebration of Yemanjà (5/23)

DuSable Museum of African American History

Tomorrow night, start your long weekend off with the DuSable Museum for a musical celebration of the spiritual deity of the Yoruba religion  Yemanjà. This prominent figure in many Afridan diasporic religions is known as The Goddess of the Ocean, the Essence of Motherhood, and the Producer of Children. This celebration will take place first at the DuSable Museum with song, dance and ritual, and will continue on to the Washington Park lagoon!

Running this Saturday and Sunday, the Third Rail Music Festival is one of Chicago's newest outdoor electric dance music festivals. It pays special attention to underground EDM talent from some of the top local and national electronic fance msic artists. This Memorial Day, honor this country's brave veterans and active duty military by participating in the 18th Annual Ceremony and Dedication of the General John A. Logan Monument. Put on by the Chicago Cultural Mile Association and the Lawrence Pucci Wedgwood Society of Chicago, this Memorial Day wreath laying and monument rededication commemorates those who died serving our country.

Truth To Power at the Symphony Center (5/22-6/8)


This weekend, catch the first weekend of a three week festival honoring some pretty important musical genuises of the 20th century - that's right we're talking about the powerful, thrilling works of Britten, Prokofiev and Shostakovich.
