ACTIVATE is back for its second week this summer! Stop by the Chicago Theatre Alley tonight for a free celebration brought to you by Chicago Loop Alliance. Part spectacle, Part Happy Hour hangout, and all part awesome, this new series brings together Chicago's most creative minds, its most talented local musicians, and a whole lot of fun. No two alleys will be the same, so check it out tonight and be on the look-out for next month's spot.
Finishing up Hubbard Street's 36th season with a bang, the Summer Series this year is sure to amaze. Hubbard Street and the Harris Theaer for Music and DAnce will present a live simulcast during the Summer Sseries this weekend to a fancy 40-foot wide LED screen in the Pritzker Pavilion this Friday at 8PM. The WOW factor is on. Catch one of their dazzling performances all weeekend long, with tickets at $25.
We all love the zoo, but ever wish you could stroll through the beloved Lincoln Park Zoo with a little less, err, screaming? This Friday night is all about the adults, so book a babysitter, grab a drink and enjoy a new kind of evening at the zoo! Adult's Night Out invites guests of 21 years of age and older to experience LPZ after hours with food, beer and wine available for purchase. Come for the peace and quiet, but stay for the fun.
The ladies are back in town. Kicking off this evening, the Chicago Women's Funny Festival celebrates the best in local (and national) female comediennes. From stand-up to sketch, improv to burlesque, one acts to - well pretty much everything you can think of! Summah, summah, summah, summaaaahhh.. You know what I'm talking about. The first full weekend in June is here, and you know what that means - you've got some serious festivals to hit up. Some of this weekend's highlighs include North Center's finger-lickin' good Ribfest Chicago, Andersonville Sommarfest in all of its dancing and delicious glory, the everyday art collector's favorite 57th Street Art Fair, the history buff and book warm pick of the week Printers Row Lit Fest, and the fest with some serious musical throwbacks and coverbands Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival. Be sure to catch 'em all.
This Friday, New Belgium Brewing presents a new kind of fest: the beer-toting, film-traveling, nonprofit-benefitting show that will be stopping in 21 cities this year. Lucky us Chicago's on the list! This free one-day only event offers a venue where guests can try New Belgium's more esoteric beer offerings, while also enjoying short films created by New Belgiums fans. Starting at 7:30PM, come on down and get your 3oz samples for just $1.25, and your 12oz. beers for just $5. Win-win situation.
