The holidays are here! It's the cheeriest time of the year in Chicago, and there's plenty to do to get in the spirit. This is a time to be with friends and family, and we've got a list of activities that everyone will enjoy.
CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE (THRU 12/21)
This weekend's your last chance to see Cirque Dream's critically acclaimed holiday stage extravaganza at the Chicago Theatre. This holiday spectacle with more than 300 costumes, 20 acts and 30 artists is the perfect gift for families and audiences of all ages. Combining a new cirque show, a Broadway musical, a Christmas spectacular and family holiday show, Cirque Dreams Holidaze isn't to be missed.
LATE-ER NIGHT ANDERSONVILLE (12/19)
Procrastinating on your holiday shopping? Go to the second night of Late Night Andersonville, just a little "late-er" than usual. Four more hours and big discounts are being tacked on for shoppers, plus you can get free entertainment, refreshments and pictures with Santa for added measure.
WELCOME YULE! (THRU 12/23)
Come all ye' faithful to Symphony Center this weekend, as Welcome Yule! celebrates its 20th year. This full-length musical production from the mind of Duain Wolfe is a marvel to behold, featuring the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus members, dancers, sing-alongs and appearances by beloved holiday characters. No doubt you'll get a special visit from a large man in a red suit.
WINTER PAGEANT (THRU 12/21)
In its 16th year, Redmoon's Winter Pageant explores the idea of grand love and honors the four seasons of the human heart. The performance is set atop a giant glacier, with the love stories coming to life through more than 40 performers, including 30 community collaborators. Find love through the art of urban dancers, aerialists, a teen choir and beautiful, handmade Redmoon puppets and costumes that only this Spectacle company could pull off.
Everyone's favorite giant brass instrument is multiplied by 400 for TUBACHRISTMAS at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel this weekend. This holiday favorite is a veritable tuba-tacular of Christmas cheer, celebrating more than 25 years of the event. In addition to the ballroom festivities, Lockwood Restaurant & Bar, Potter's and the lobby bar will be serving Spiced Cider, Hot Toddy, Hot Buttered Rum and warm mulled wine. You can't go wrong.
MADE IN CHICAGO MARKET (12/20)
Head to Block 37 this weekend for the second annual Made in Chicago Holiday Market, featuring more than 100 local vendors. Local Chicago businesses will showcase their products, services, food and drink in this holiday gifting suite, taking place in the heart of holiday shopping. Get those gifts bought and wrapped just in time for the holidays!
HANUKKAH CONCERT (12/21)
Enjoy a special Hanukkah concert by the inventive Maxwell Street Klezmer Band in the Alsdorf Auditorium at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Your ticket also includes access to the Wonderland Express exhibit.
