Are you ready for some fútbol? World Cup fever is heating up all over Chicago, and U.S. Soccer wants you to be a part of the action! This June, U.S. Soccer will host three 2014 FIFA World Cup viewing parties for the U.S. Men's National Team pool play matches in Grant Park. The events are free and open to the public.
The viewing parties for USA's Group G opener against Ghana on June 16 and the U.S.-Portugal match on June 22 will take place at Arvey Field, near the Columbus Drive and Roosevelt Road intersection.
The Petrillo Music Shell at Butler Field, located near Columbus Drive and Jackson Street in Grant Park, will host the U.S.'s final group match against Germany. More than 1,000 fans turned out last summer to the Petrillo Music Shell to watch the U.S take on Honduras in a qualifier match.
Each event will feature ESPN's live feed of the matches displayed on giant 19'-by-33' high-definition screens and will include live look-ins on the fans gathered in Chicago.
Each viewing party will be accompanied by a U.S. Soccer Fan Fest area, which will be open for much of the day and have a variety of activities for fans. The June 16 event will feature a special musical appearance, announced soon. U.S. Soccer merchandise, food and beverages will be available for purchase, as well as other limited-edition items.
The Fan Fests will open starting at 12 p.m. prior to the June 16 and June 22 viewing parties and will open after the conclusion of the June 26 match.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup begins in Rio de Janeiro on June 12 and runs through July 13.
