Nothing beats summertime in Chicago. After a long winter, Chicagoans appreciate the sunshine and blue skies so much, we take our workouts outdoors and we're inviting you to join in on the action. From the zoo to marvelous Millennium Park, and even on the waves of Lake Michigan, the options are limitless. Grab your running shoes and yoga mat and get ready to burn some calories under the sun.
Find your center and meditate amidst the waving prairie grasses, sunbathing turtles, swans and ducks, at Lincoln Park Zoo's Nature Boardwalk. Through September, every Wednesday at 6:30 pm, Saturday at 9 am, and Sunday at 10am, drop in for yoga at the zoo, an hour-long adult class. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own mats and water; if it rains, meet in the Farm-in-the-Zoo barn for some barnyard yoga. Classes for mini yogis, ages 2 - 5 (along with thier closest adult), are held every Tuesday at 10 am. Now is your chance to perfect your animal poses!
Paddleboard yoga certainly sounds like a unique way to get into shape, and according to the folks at S.U.P. Yoga, the paddleboard makes for a perfect yoga mat. Even yoga newbies are encouraged to take part in these challenging classes, which promise to build up core strength. The S.U.P. summer season began on June 2, with classes held every Sunday from 9:30 - 11 am at Hollywood Beach and Noon - 1:30 pm. at Montrose Beach. To learn more or register for classes, click here.
