Ravinia Festival 2012

Summer means summer concerts and outdoor music. It's about time! And there is nothing that means summertime like watching your favorite artists performing under the stars, and at these premiere local venues that dream is possible.

The Ravinia

The Ravinia, located in the near north suburb of Highland Park, is a nice little escape from the city with some nice big talent to boot. Hidden away in a shaded grove, the outdoor theater welcomes your blankets and picnics baskets for another season in 2014. You can hear classical music from the likes of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, fan favorites like Hall & Oates and contemporary hit makers like John Legend. See the full summer schedule and buy tickets here.

Midwest Bank Ampitheatre

Midwest Bank Ampitheatre in Tinley Park (just south of the city) is your classic large-scale out door venue. With a 28,000 person capacity, covered seating,  a sprawling lawn and some of the biggest names in music, this is where you need to be in the warm months. This season big name acts like Bruno Mars, Tim McGraw, Fall Out Boy and Nine Inch Nails will be hitting the stage. See the full summer schedule and buy tickets here.

Northerly Island

Northerly Island

Every summer manmade Northerly Island, south of Soldier Field, turns into the venue with the best view of Chicago. FirstMerit Bank Pavilion overlooks Lake Michigan with the city skyline in the background. Chicago's most public transit accessible outdoor venue welcomes the likes of the Backstreet Boys, Dave Matthews Band and 311 this summer. See the full summer schedule and buy tickets here.
