Cook County Social Club

This is another big week in Chicago comedy. This week I'm suggesting the solo showcase at The Public House Theatre, Cook County Social Club's revival at iO and the brand-spankin' new stand-up festival, The Comedy Exposition, happening this weekend. I don't ever want to hear you say you're bored ... way too many laughs to be had.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: A NIGHT OUT
The Public House Theatre
Monday, July 7th @ 8 p.m.

This solo showcase is guaranteed to knock your socks off. Performers include Brianna Baker, Caitlin Costello, Annie Donley, Michael Malarkey, Patrick Rowland, Lindsey Smith, Becca Taubel and many more. Elegant attire is encouraged to make this evening an even classier affair. Tickets are $10.

COOK COUNTY SOCIAL CLUB
iO Chicago
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Cook County Social Club (CCSC) ended a seven year streak at iO last fall when the group migrated west. If you're unfamiliar with this improv team, do yourself a favor and change that this week. Before Tim Robinson got picked up on Saturday Night Live, CCSC was composed of these five handsome gentlemen: Tim Robinson, Greg Hess, Brendan Jennings, Bill Cochran and Mark Raterman. CCSC is my favorite improv group. They're brilliant. It was heartbreaking when they left last fall, but the fact that they are back for a three night run this week before iO offically closes its doors at their Wrigleyville location is monumental. These shows will sell out, if they aren't already. Get your tickets now.

THE COMEDY EXPOSITION 2014
Lakeview, Wicker Park, Logan Square
July 11-13th

In the absence of Just for Laughs, four local Chicago comedians have taken it upon themselves to pull together a rather impressive lineup of local and national stand-up talent. Beginning this Friday and lasting through the weekend, The Comedy Exposition will be hosting more than 60 comics from all over the country. You'll have the chance to see Andy Kindler (Bob's Burgers, Maron, Comedy Central, Late Show with David Letterman), Jackie Kashian (Last Comic Standing, NPR's This American Life, Conan), and current Saturday Night Live cast member Brooks Wheelan among many others. If you're a stand-up fan, don't miss this.
