It's freezing outside. What better way to fight off Chicago's Polar Vortex 2.0 than to warm it up with laughter? At least that's what I'd suggest. Here are a few upcoming comedy events worth venturing out in the tundra to check out this weekend.

Thursday, January 30th @ 8pm
UP Comedy Club

UPSCALE is an evening filled with live jazz and Chicago's premiere comedians. With live music from The Pat Mallinger Trio and performances by Chicago stand-ups Brian Babylon, Adam Burke, Marty DeRosa, Megan Gailey and Chris Bader, this night is guaranteed to be great night out. Use the promo code JAZZ for $10 tickets. You can buy tickets here.

Friday & Saturday, January 31st & February 1st
8pm & 10:30pm
UP Comedy Club

Tom is a veteran stand-up comedian whose comedy has earned the respect of both his peers and the public alike. Some say he has a similar comedic style to Jerry Seinfeld. He has recorded several specials for Comedy Central and has made numerous appearances on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "Late Show with David Letterman." Last year, he filmed "Behind the Candelabra" with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, among numerous other movie and television credits. Local comic Adam Burke will be the feature stand-up and The Puterbaugh Sisters will be emceeing this weekend. You can buy tickets here.

Saturday, February 1st @ 8pm
Chemically Imbalanced Comedy

"Moral Hazard" is a two-man sketch comedy composed of storytelling and political satire exploring the roots and consequences of America's "Great Recession." The show is written and performed by Walt Delaney and Chandler Goodman under the direction of Mark Logsdon. Delaney and Goodman dive into a topic many steer clear of and exploit every creavice with smart, delicate diligance and a sympathetic heart. The story of this financial calamity is woven through Delaney's real-life experience of selling auto loans, perpetuating the country's mounting debt. This show is intellectually challenging while still being laugh out loud funny. I highly recommend this show. If you can't catch the show this weekend, it is playing Saturdays at 8pm until March 1st. Don't miss this.
