You won't be able to swing a cat this weekend without beaning a comic. Close to 70 comedians will fan out across Lakeview, Wicker Park and Old Town as part of The Comedy Exposition, running Friday, July 10 through Sunday July 12.
Chicago comics dominate the roster, but the lineup includes an array of up-and-comers and established stars from Anchorage to Austin. Shows will be ongoing through the weekend at UP Comedy Club, Schubas, Playground Theater, and Stand Up Stand Up at the Crocodile Lounge.
Headliners include James Adomian ("Last Comic Standing," "Comedy Bang! Bang!"), Sara Schaefer ("Inside Amy Schumer," "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon") and Phoebe Robinson ("Last Comic Standing," "Girl Code"), and Megan Gailey (NYC's Laughing Devil Festival), along with Todd Glass ("Louie," "Mr. Show," "Late Night With Conan O'Brien," pictured above), Baron Vaughn ("Conan," "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon," "Comedy Central Presents"), Adam Cayton-Holland (creator/star of TruTV's upcoming "Those Who Can't"), and Kate Berlant (below).
You can check out the full lineup and schedule at comedyexposition.com. Three-day and one-day festival passes, in addition to tickets to individual shows, are on sale now at comedyexpo.brownpapertickets.com.
This is the second year for the festival. Engineered by Chicago-based standups Katie McVay ("Yell You Better"), Stephanie Hasz ("Comedy Secrets"), Zach Peterson ("Arguments and Grievances"), and Goodrich Gevaart ("Freak Happening") along with producer Matt Byrne ("Splitsider"), the Expo is designed to celebration the seemingly endless supply of quality talent performing in underground and alternative venues in Chicago and across the country.
