Sleep with the fishes (literally) at Spooky Seas, the Shedd Aquarium's ghostly Halloween party with optional overnight stay. If you've ever dreamed of waking up next to a shark or sharing some zzzzzz's with a group of exhausted sea otters, you have the chance... finally!
Mark your calendars for October 26th, because your family can't miss the much anticipated Spooky Seas event. I can't imagine many things freakier than spending the night in a darkened aquarium. No lights are allowed at night because they can disturb the animals. So, be prepared for a truly eerie atmosphere.
Families are encouraged to come in costume. You'll enjoy a DJ hosted Monster Mash, themed activities geared towards kids of all ages (though children wishing to sleepover must be at least 5-years-old), an aquatic animal show and dinner.
All of the exhibits, including the Abbott Oceanarium, Wild Reef, Waters of the World and Amazon Rising, will be open during the event, and families are free to stay and spend some more time at the aquarium after breakfast.
For those sleeping over, a small late-night snack and continental breakfast will also be offered. Bring your sleeping bags; moms and dads may want to consider bringing along an air mattress, too. You can also register for the party only, you know, if you're not quite ready to sleep with the sharks.
