The Chicago Flower and Garden Show, March 15-23, serves as your annual reminder that spring is right around the corner, and that snow will soon be replaced by colorful, vibrant foliage. This year's show theme is Do Green, Do Good, offering unique and practical ideas for novice green thumbs through expert gardeners. Chicago's best landscapers create displays that gardeners in attendance can emulate and create masterpieces of their own! This inspired show is a visual shopping trip of ideas for transforming any green space into one that's beautiful, enjoyable and memorable.
From activities for kids to educational seminars led by top horticulture experts and academic professionals, the Flower and Garden Show has everything to make attendees the envy of the neighborhood.
2014 show highlights include:
- An expanded Kids Activity Garden with programming on plants, bugs, soil and more.
- Garden Gourmet's live stage featuring famous chefs demonstrating how garden delights can become delectable dishes.
- The Marketplace, a shopper's paradise, offering more than 70 vendors with useful home and garden products and flowers for purchase.
- Tablescapes that provide inspiration for fun, imaginative décor indoor and out.
- Popular photography competition, presented in a gallery setting and honoring amateur and professional photogs.
The show is open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Hours run from 10 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

And, in honor of the Flower and Garden Show, Chicagoans are invited to step aboard the Spirit of Chicago for lunch and brunch cruises. Hosted by Navy Pier, these cruises will provide a "vibrant and festive dining experience with impeccable views and exquisite flower demonstrations by a professional florist." Ticket-holders can enjoy some DJ entertainment and feast on delicious food offerings aboard the popular 192-foot, four-story vessel.
Lunch cruises are offered March 15 and from March 18-23, while brunch cruises are on March 16 and 17. Boarding for all cruises begins at 11 a.m. and the cruise runs from 12-2 p.m.
Weekend Flower and Garden Show cruises cost $48.90 with admission to the show, $39.90 without admission.
Weekday Flower and Garden Show lunch cruises cost $45.90 with admission, $36.90 without.
