Looking for a unique place to take your kids to cool off while you are here? Adam's Playground - located in the heart of the north side neighborhood of Lincoln Park (1919 N. Seminary Ave.), just off Armitage Ave. is the place to be on a hot summer day in Chicago. This park has all the standard equipment and a splash and play area with water jets, sprinklers, and a slide.
There is something for all kids ages ten and under: It's just the right size for smaller tots with just enough fun spots to splash around in, and yet it's small enough that you can easily keep your eye on everything. Older kids will enjoy a larger play structure complete with a mini-climbing wall to the slides. There is no swimming pool here - just splash and play equipment – so it’s ideal for the non-swimmer. A huge sandbox filled with sand toys and covered with canopy for sun protection tops off the fun. Best of all - it's free!
Top off your afternoon with a cool treat at Tom and Wendee’s Italian Ice (1136 West Armitage; open every summer day from Noon until 10 p.m.). Fresh, homemade Italian ices come in a variety of refreshing, fruity flavors, from black cherry to watermelon. Your littlest ones will delight in seeing the collection of stuffed animals in the window.
The best way to travel to Lincoln Park is via the Brown Line: it's a quick elevated and underground train ride from the Loop. Get off at the Armitage Stop - Adam's Playground is within an easy walking distance.
