FTW Chicago Arcade For The Win

Sometimes alcohol and sports don't mix, but these action-packed arcade bars provide both drinks and recreational opportunities in Chicago. Luckily, there's little chance you'll get hurt when playing ping pong, or scoring points on video games. Even if you lose, it's all about having fun and delicious cocktails or craft beers with friends.

Here are our favorite (mostly new!) bars for drinks and rec in Chicago. Get your game on at these high-energy sports social clubs to take Chicago nightlife to another level.

SPiN Chicago

SPiN Chicago is one of the two newest places to play pong in the city. No, not beer pong — ping pong! Show off your skills until 2am every day (later on Saturdays, earlier on Sundays). Plan your visit according to the many exciting weekly tournaments and themed nights. Then, check out their website for specific pricing information for table bookings, which change based on peak/off-peak hours.

Chicago is the city where just one ping pong bar isn't enough to keep up with demand. Not long after SPiN Chicago opened it's doors, AceBounce was hot on it's heels. Happy Hour is from 4-7pm, but this ping pong bar is open late on weekends!

Kings Bowl Lincoln Park

Kings Bowl Chicago

There is certainly no shortage of bowling alleys in the city, but Kings Lincoln Park is truly an experience. Best of all, it's open late for when you're seeking an interesting alternative night out to bar hopping. Grab some of their delicious comfort food menu items and "big balls" drinks to share with a group, or stick around for a game of pool.

WhirlyBall Chicago

WhirlyBall combines everything that's great about lacrosse, hockey, and basketball with the excitement of challenging others in bumper cars. No need to worry about injuries — this game is all about fun. Plus you can drink! It's like being on a golf course, but with no need to be careful with steering with cushioned bumpers in place. Head to the Bucktown neighborhood if you've got a ready and willing team! Insider tip: This multi-level destination not only boasts bowling lanes and a laser tag arena, but an outdoor terrace too.

FTW Chicago Arcade For The Win

Like Chicago's beloved Headquarters and Emporium, newly opened FTW (meaning For The Win) offers a number of arcade games. But unlike the aforementioned bars, FTW also has indoor mini golf! Up until now, there weren't many places to enjoy a round of mini golf in the city, and certainly not in a temperature controlled bar with delicious cocktails. This spot screams "date night."

Bocce Ball at Pinstripes Chicago

Pinstripes has both bowling lanes and bocce ball, but it would be worth it to visit even if you were just going for the food. You'll love their extensive gelato and topping options, in addition to gourmet appetizers and entrees.

Sluggers is an old favorite for drinks and recreation fans in Wrigleyville. Besides being the perfect place to drink before or after a Cubs game, there are also batting cages and dueling pianos. So many entertainment options!

Upgrade your next night out with drinks and recreation in Chicago. As these options aren't an exhaustive list of all the possibilities, we'd love to hear where you go for drinks and recreation in Chicago in the comments!
