Chicago Restaurant Week 2014 wraps up today. For the final day of celebration, we're breaking out the cake (and gelato, and doughnuts, get the idea) and offering up a few suggestions for Restaurant Week restaurants serving up standout desserts. 

Public House (400 N State St)

Matt Kirouac

Public House has a few options on their dinner dessert menu, but it's the Wells banana bread beer and chocolate covered pretzel gelato that really shines. (Lunch and Dinner, $22/$33)

Trencherman (2039 W North Ave)

Elevating a nostalgic classic dessert, Trencherman puts a new twist on s'mores with house-made graham crackers, smoked marshmallows, dark chocolate and popcorn ice cream. Bonus: Trencherman is extending their Restaurant Week menu, offering it until February 12th. (Dinner, $44)

The Bristol (2152 N Damen Ave)

The Bristol made an appearance on our list of Chicago Restaurant Week spots serving up inventive pear dishes, but their poached pear trifle with vanilla honey mousse, buttermilk pound cake, lime cream, pear sorbet and a honey cookie, deserve another mention. (Dinner, $44)

Blackbird (619 W Randolph)


The winter coupe-a sundae-type dessert-with espresso ice cream, almond crumble, licorice cream and fudge, is the perfect way to finish a meal. (Lunch, $22)

Browntrout (4111 N Lincoln Ave)

Two options tempt at this North Center eatery. Choose the fallen chocolate souffle with black raspberry coulis, orange crumble and hazelnut brittle, or go for the Granny Smith apple fritters, served with brown butter ice cream, apple butter and salted caramel. Bonus: Browntrout is extending their Restaurant Week menu through February 9th. (Dinner, $44)

Cicchetti (671 N St Clair St)

End your dinner here with a reverse affogato, made with coffee ice cream, malted creme anglaise and seasonal doughnuts. (Dinner, $44)

City Tavern (1416 S Michigan Ave)

Enjoy an adult dessert with City Tavern's beer float, made with burnt caramel gelato, salted peanuts and caramel sauce. (Dinner, $33)

Feast (1616 N Damen Ave #1)

Choose the warm chocolate cake, served with whiskey mascarpone cream, pecans and caramel sauce, or order the red velvet cheesecake, with a Oreo cookie crust and served with strawberry sauce. (Lunch and Dinner, $22/$33)
